Chaofang is a Hong Kong-style restaurant inspired by the nostalgic charm of traditional cha chaan teng culture. Our design goal was to recreate a space that resonates with the collective memory of a bygone era, offering guests a sense of familiarity and warmth.
To bring this vision to life, I drew inspiration from the iconic film "In the Mood for Love," using its rich and moody color palette as the foundation for the interior's visual language. This cinematic influence set the tone for the space and helped convey the romantic and introspective atmosphere reminiscent of 1960s Hong Kong.
I also designed a series of custom signage and posters that reflect the graphic style of that era, enhancing the immersive environment and reinforcing the cultural authenticity of the dining experience. These elements, combined with classic textures and materials, pay homage to the golden age of Hong Kong's urban spirit.
